Product disclaimers

  • Self-tapes are filmed on your phone; ActAcross is the scene partner on your laptop.
  • The AI scene partner is a rehearsal aid. It is not professional acting coaching, casting advice, or legal advice.
  • You are responsible for having the rights to upload and rehearse any sides, scripts, or other materials you provide.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how ActAcross handles information when you use the web app.

By using ActAcross, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy.

2. Information we process

Account data: email, display name, and authentication identifiers when you create or sign in to an account.

Scripts and scene data: sides or scripts you upload or paste, role selections, scene settings, notes, and related rehearsal metadata stored in your account.

Microphone audio and speech recognition: during a rehearsal or self-tape assist session, microphone audio may be processed for cue detection and speech recognition. Audio is processed to support in-session cues; the product is not designed to permanently store audition video.

Voice and optional avatar features: partner lines may be synthesized as speech and, when enabled, rendered through optional avatar or realtime media features.

Technical data: basic device, browser, and usage signals needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.

If you reach ActAcross through one of our own posts or links, that link carries a short code identifying which post it was. When you create an account, we store that code on your account so we can tell which of our posts help actors find a rehearsal partner. The code identifies the post, not you: it carries no information about you, we do not use the code to track you across other websites, we set no advertising or analytics cookies for it, and it is deleted along with the rest of your account data if you delete your account. Advertising measurement is described separately in section 4.

Product analytics: which features you reach, where you get stuck, and which errors you hit, plus recordings of interface interactions on some sessions. Rehearsal and script surfaces are excluded from those recordings entirely, and text is masked by default everywhere else.

3. What we do not do with video

ActAcross does not record, store, or export your audition video takes. Camera capture for the audition is intended to happen on a separate device you control (typically a phone).

The app does not request camera access for filming your self-tape.

4. Service providers

We use trusted service providers to operate ActAcross. Depending on the features you use, these may include providers for:

Authentication, database, and cloud storage.

Text-to-speech for scene-partner voice.

Speech recognition for cue listening (when enabled; your browser’s built-in speech recognition may be used as a default or fallback).

Optional avatar or realtime media features when those features are enabled.

These providers process data only as needed to deliver the features you use, under agreements that restrict their use of that data. A current list of service providers is available upon request.

Advertising measurement. If we run paid advertising, we tell the advertising platform when an account completes its first rehearsal, so we can tell which ads bring actors who actually go on to rehearse rather than just sign up. We send a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your email address and the time of that first rehearsal. We do not send your name, your scripts, your rehearsal content, your IP address, or your browser details, and we set no advertising cookies. We only do this for accounts that complete a first rehearsal after we turned this on.

We use a product-analytics service to understand how ActAcross is used — which features people reach, where they get stuck, and which errors they hit. This includes recordings of interface interactions on some sessions. These recordings are configured to mask text and input content by default, and we do not send script or scene text, dialogue, rehearsal notes, recognized speech, uploaded file contents, or audio links to that service. What it receives is anonymous or account-linked identifiers, event names, categories, counts, durations, and error codes.

5. Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active, unless you delete your account, subject to the referral and billing retention described below.

For referrals, we keep code claims, terms acceptance, reward and billing status, and protected hashes of verified email addresses to prevent repeat introductory discounts, including after email changes. The hashes and linked billing identity are retained while an account exists and for up to three years after deletion. Hashes are pseudonymous, not anonymous. After that period, identity links are removed; minimal historical account, claim, invoice, and reward references remain to fulfill and reconcile earned benefits and resolve billing issues. A referrer sees aggregate reward status, not the referred person’s email or payment details. An unclaimed referral code may be stored in your browser for up to 30 days to resume after authentication; no purchase is attributed until you explicitly claim it.

Unfavorited scenes (and associated partner voice audio for those scenes) are automatically removed about 30 days after they were last updated. Favorited scenes are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Scenes are limited in length and count to keep the service reliable; oversized sides may be rejected.

In-session microphone audio is processed for cueing and is not intended to be retained as audition video.

Cached partner voice audio may be stored to improve rehearsal performance for matching line, voice, and direction variants.

6. Account deletion and data requests

You may delete individual scenes from your dashboard when signed in (this also removes associated partner voice audio for that scene).

You may delete your full account from Settings → Privacy by confirming your email. Deletion removes your account login, profile, scripts, rehearsal data, and stored partner voice audio under your account, and cancels any active paid subscription for this account.

Service providers may retain operational logs according to their own policies. If self-serve deletion fails, contact us through the ActAcross website for privacy requests.

7. Your choices

You can sign out, delete scenes you control, and stop using the product.

Microphone permission is controlled by your browser and operating system; denying mic access limits cue listening features.

8. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. The version date on this page will change when updates are published, and the product may ask you to re-acknowledge material changes.
